Prior to their last game of the season against the Portland Trailblazers, Magic Johnson announced to the media that he is stepping down as Lakers' President of Basketball Operations after he took over the position two years ago to rebuild the team and hoping to win a championship.

During his press conference, Johnson said that Owner Jeannie Buss and General Manager Rob Pelinka had no idea he's stepping down.

He also said that he's stepping down because the team is going in the right direction. "If we were not, I'd probably be staying" he added.

Johnson's biggest contribution in his tenure as Lakers' President is when he lands Lebron James to the team.
